Document Headers & Footers

C2C Headers & Footers Project
Countdown to College had existing document headers and footers, but when we reviewed most of the older documents, they had an outdated header and footer design which no longer projected what we wanted it to. To match the up-to-date icon we were using for the program going forward, we needed to match the headers and footers we were using. I had made a bunch of samples, and we chose from those. I was restricted to branding rules for fonts and colors - these rules changed in the middle of our communication plans. We were able to update the header and footer to match those new rules quickly.
This was a full color header that would stretch across the top of the paper. While on brand and simple in design, the red letters against the gray background wasn't easy enough to read and broke the paper into sections we weren't happy with.
This header contained the four graduation caps to reinforce the four years attending Countdown to College. We changed up the colors of the font for the name of the institution, changed the program name font to an outline style, and put the classes words into italics. This sample was rejected since the red font was hard to read on a white background and the outline style provided too much visual white space.
This design incorporated more colors and styles into the fonts. It was rejected for the font colors being too hard to read on white paper and the offset font outline making the text harder to read.
This design incorporated more brand colors into the background. It was rejected for the background being too busy and the font not standing out enough, making the text too hard to read.
This sample incorporated a graphic of a post-it note with Countdown to College dates in it. This design was rejected since it would have to be updated every year before being used and the outline on the font making the letters too wide and the text harder to read.
This was the only black and white version header and was the simplest design out of the samples. It was chosen as the final, before branding instructions changed, for the fact it was simple, classic, and could stand up even if there were more changes to the branding rules. It was in use until branding instructions changed and was then updated to the new standards.
This is the black and while header after being updated to the newest branding instructions. This simple and clean design worked well for all kinds of mailed communication documents we needed to send.
This footer was created after having chosen the final header to use and was the only sample made. It was created to accompany the style of the chosen header in a complimentary way.
